After leaving my decade-long (plus) career in education, I am on a journey to finding the perfect work-life balance for me and my family. I know I’m not alone in this decision. Many of us entering midlife are realizing that we don’t have to remain stuck working our butts off in a job that causes stress and burnout. I’ve got investments and side hustles in the works, while dipping my toes into the world of independent contracting. It’s exciting! The best part? I get to make my own schedule.
Once I get started with part-time contracting, I’m going to start looking into remote work as well. Part of my midlife transition is the desire to be more available for my family. That means having a flexible schedule and the ability to work from home.

While doing research on potential remote jobs, I found a FANTASTIC remote job search site, tailored towards moms. Isn’t that amazing?!
It’s called Hire My Mom.
Hire My Mom knows that there are women out there who are highly skilled and looking for ways to find their dream work-life balance. The small businesses using Hire My Mom to post jobs have figured out the amazing benefits of having hard-working mamas on their team.
If you’re thinking, “Wait, this sounds too good to be true,” I understand. I felt the same way at first. After doing a little research, I discovered that not only is it legit, but it has several 5-star ratings on Better Business Bureau. While the site isn’t yet accredited with BBB, one of the reviews states that Hire My Mom is life-changing and a game-changer and helped her land three legitimate clients. Another review mentions finding a great job within weeks of signing up.
On Site Jabber, Hire My Mom has a rating of 4.5 and 35 reviews. You should definitely read the reviews. They are so positive and inspiring. The only downside I can see is that are fewer options compared to some of the bigger job posting sides, but that particular review also states that Hire My Mom has wonderful customer service and her purchase was refunded. (I would honestly expect fewer postings, since it’s geared towards a niche population of job seekers.)
What Does Hire My Mom offer?
It’s pretty straightforward. First, you choose a membership option. Next, upload your resume. Finally, start browsing job postings and apply!
Hire My Mom also offers resume-building support and training. Consider it the one-stop-shop when considering remote jobs for women and moms.
What Makes Hire My Mom Unique?
You keep everything you earn! They will not take a percentage or commission.
They are committed to keeping the site a scam-free zone. Job postings are researched and approved before showing up on the site. (You should still do your own research, though).
There is a community on Facebook for support and making mom friends…we all know how hard that can be sometimes.
And I just love, love, love that they are a mom-owned and operated business. I get the sense that they truly understand and want you to succeed.
What Types of Remote Jobs for Women Are Offered?
You will have options, that’s for sure!
You can find full-time or part-time jobs, 1099 contracts and some W-2 contracts. On their site, they share that most of the jobs are part-time contractor or freelance jobs.
Some of the job categories include virtual assistants, writers/bloggers, social media, graphic design, accounting, sales, marketing, and more. These are all great options for remote work.

I think sometimes it’s easy for moms or anyone who has gaps in their employment timeline to think they have nothing to offer, but nothing could be further from the truth.
